52 weeks!
it has been a while since i posted an entry here. i've been soooo busy with a lot of things. my wife went back to her work in saudi arabia so i resume my NATAY responsibilities with no help from others whatsoever. all my children fo to school and sometimes they help in the household chores. i suggested we get a maid but they didn't like the idea so it's just me and the kids. i email my wife once a day and she gets updated with happenings around home.
today, AUP is in the middle of a week of prayer session under dr denise desweielr (i'm not sure of the spelling of her last name) who chose the topic: transformers: spirit rising.
btw, the reason i haven't had time to update this journal is FACEBOOK.

the investiture 2008
AUP has a new president: Dr Gladden Flores.
it's my first time again since my graduation emceeing of 2002 that i wore my regalia. i felt like a star while walking the carpet (was there a carpet?) together with other teachers here; my students were all cheering me! or were they laughing at my face? boo hoo, tears...
anyways, i was so anxious yesterday about what will happen today that my sleep last night was disturbed.
yes i gave so much ado about nothing...it was just okay...no biggie!

investiture ceremony for the new AUP president
long before the school year started, we the workers of AUP had been introduced to the new university president, dr gladden flores. the guy is an old friend of mine because his brother, ralph, was with me when i was still a member of the AUP ambassadors, way back in the good ol' days.
this morning all of the faculty and staff of the university were gathered at 6:30 am at the gym to prepare for this festive occasion of the installation. to the dismay of some of us, the program would not start until 9am! and to think others haven't had their breakfast yet!
who ever thought up this scheme should pay big time. what are we going to do at the gym from the early hours to 9am?!
it was good that most of the faculty and staff of AUP are very patient people. thus, the investiture program was held without a hitch. nobody collapsed from hunger, heat, or exhaustion. the spirit of God worked mightily on this poor souls who are ever long-suffering.

they'd rather complain, they like it best!
i have proven to myself that people would rather complain about how life is getting harder and harder and the price of things are going high, etc, etc, than do something about it!
i joined a network of local business-minded people just recently and i was trying to invite my friends to join me in this lucrative business. and so for them to get the details on how to join, i gave them invitations to a lecture of one of the top-earners of the business. so that when i start earning, my friends would receive blessings, too!
none of my friends came.
pride? or maybe they just forgot...
thus, in the s aid, lecture, it happened yesterday, btw, i invited whoever is available. the students who have nothing else to do.
i'll try again this september, and i hope my friends will be there to give the business a chance.

huge package! (a big box!)
i got a tx message yesterday at lunchtime from someone telling me that i have a package and he was asking directions to my house. sure enough the guy was able to locate this place and he was carrying in his shoulders, a huge box! i thought packages are carried in one's arm, this one is really huge.
actually i was expecting this but my wife didn't tell me when it will arrive and how huge it will be!
anyways i spent most of the afternoon unpacking the box so i wasn't able to put in any entry here with the excitement!
well i'm bracing myself again for an adrenalin-pumping day, it's friday, i shouldn't remind you again for the nth time.

i just got off the yahoo messenger, i had a chat with my wife.i'm just so excited cuz she'll be here any day now. no, i mean, i'll be meeting her at the airport on august 3! this is the comeback of the century and i wont miss this for the world and why> cuz this is my only wife we're talking about! my God, i really really miss her so much. please take of her Lord, don't let anything happen to her please. ---wow that got me praying!

i missed putting in entries here for some time, but i'm back. i don't have the assurance that i'll be enjoying the internet for days on end, there will always be days when my browsing has to be put aside for other more pressing matters. i have to accept that reality.

this afternoon i went swimming with my kids at the university pool; i haven't touched the waters of the pool since 2004 (?) that was a very, very loooong time ago.

i was elected associate treasurer for the home and school association of adventist university of the philippines academy. the last time i was elected in any major office was when i was in college. hehe!

regrettable day
dude, i'm a real dude! why?
the atm has a written warning on its screen: NO BILLS. but it is online so i went on and inserted my card, punched my code, and chose my desired cash. my card came out, the receipt came out but no money came out! and when i read my receipt, the atm took my money instead of giving me the amount i requested! dude! real dude!
si i had no choice but to go straight to the bank to make a complaint. it was already 35 minutes past three. i was just hoping the bank isn't closed yet. when i got to the bank, yes! it's still open...to make the short story long...
i just hope the bank will release the money they took from me! boo-hoo....

getting ready for friday!
friday should be my most relaxed day in preparation for the sabbath. but it's not. tomorrow will be another busy day like the others that passed before. i'm supposed to give my forum lecture next friday but maam pulido has to attend a meeting of all department heads so she swapped her schedule with mine. and me the dutiful subordinate has to oblige her willingly. up to this moment i'm still faced with three choices:
number 1: give a lecture on layouting magazine articles or posters (huh?)
number 2: conduct a vocabulary game, something exciting!
number 3: talk about the merits of good storytelling and of course put in some tips
i'm thinking of doing all, but the time given to me is only one and half hours.

what will i do? help me...me?...huh?

hot hot day!
i can feel global warming sweeping across the land. this once secluded spot had been a refuge from the city's killer heat. now, it is fast becoming a candidate for a place where hell begins; with the heat wave that is replacing the once cool breezes that blow from all directions, one can't help but get tired and become exhausted when the warm atmosphere takes over. i want to shout: waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
despite the abundance of trees and greenery in this hilltop campus the heat still reigns supreme and even taking a bath three times a day cannot help lower the rising heatwave that is slowly enveloping every nook and cranny of this community.
blow, cold winds, blow. a cooling storm is sooo welcome here. please open the floodgates of heaven to cool this parched land!

three barong uniforms
i was able to get the newest set of uniforms (actually the uniforms have been issued last year yet) just today and their colors are: pink, aqua blue and sky blue. wow, very soft colors indeed, almost feminish, haha! at least i can promenade into my classrooms now sporting new attire.
i hear someone kidding about blue collar jobs: "you've stayed too long in your job, your getting old and you have not saved on anything because of your meager income...what have you got so far? what have you saved? uniforms! that's what you have!"

my phil lit class had been divided into groups and last week, we had a cultural presentation: singing filipino folk songs. it's a contest of sorts so there were winners of first, second, and third prizes. i announced the winners in class today and they were ecstatic with the prizes they got! well, all in a day's work...

free ride
i was on my way to sm this afternoon to buy the prices for my philit class. the jeeps were full to hanging guys! it was a good thing when a beautiful sexy lady drove up in her red car and asked me where i was headed. at first i didn't recognize her, i wasn't looking at her, my eyes roamed to other parts of...she was asking where i was headed, i said balibago, so she said hop in! and then i realized it was jaja!
thank God, nakalibre ako ng 18 pesos. thanks, jaja, for the pleasure of seeing you again and riding in your car...wow!

i was able to accomplish what i set out to do. but when i reached home, i was not able to buy the diaper for my kid! aawwww!

you can't have 'em all
yikes, missed a day again, why? yes, you guessed it right. i talked to my wife on yahoo messenger again yesterday. one other thing, today, my kids don't have classes, so they were here last night, using the internet so i did what i must do, checking papers, organizing my class records, things teachers do, because i'm a teacher!
yesterday we were supposed to go for groceries but due to events happening beyond our power, the trip to the grocery store was postponed for sunday, or like what father's can do, i may do it on saturday night. why not today? well, today is a hectic day, remember friday? we have a teachers' seminar in the morning and then in the afternoon i have a grammar class.
to my fellow americans, happy independence day!
